The Northern Lights Pavilion has several site specific requirements to be fulfilled to make viewing the northern lights feasible. To this end the pavilion is situated on one of the highest points of Unst in an area with extremely low population density. Ground lights help direct the viewer towards the intervention. Progressing through the pavilion, reveals in the cladding gradually orient the viewer from the ground to the sky. The northern lights are finally revealed in the final section of the building.
